Curriculum Development entails Becky working with the Art coordinator to conduct an audit of the school’s curriculum to ensure that it contains progression of skills, and that it thoroughly covers the chosen potential art disciplines e.g. drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles and others outlined in the new Ofsted Primary art review 2023. Advice and support starts with the general needs of the whole school, then areas for improvement will be identified, and resources and information to support this will be provided.
The focus will be on making sure that there is clear progression of skills from reception year up to year 6, ensuring that a diverse and appropriate range of artists is included which fully reflect society and culture, including women, disabled, and multicultural artists, as well as ‘old masters’ and modern artists working today.
By incorporating an overview of the curriculum Becky ensures children are receiving a broad and comprehensive introduction to a wide variety of materials and techniques.
